For most of his childhood, John Dechant was in love with sports. He could usually be found on a baseball field or basketball court, then later the golf course. When he wasn’t playing, he was reading about these passions. So it’s little surprise that he chose to write about sports.

Who knew he'd choose a game that was played more than 20 years before he was born.

Today, Dechant lives in Omaha where he is a partner in Legacy Preservation, a specialty publishing firm that helps businesses and families across the country preserve their history in book form. He is a graduate of Creighton University, where he received a journalism degree in 2005 and a master’s degree in 2008. Previously published works include Collections (2013), a portrait of retired symphony oboist Thomas Fay, and Truth and Other Tall Tales (2011), a biography of Omaha philanthropist Richard Holland, which was profiled in the Omaha World-Herald.
